Katheryn Martin

Katheryn Martin, age 100, of Coshocton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was born on May 15, 1924, in Reform, Alabama to the late John L. and Minnie Leaster. On April 18, 1944, she married Grady Martin Sr., who passed away on November 9, 1998.

She was a life-long member of the St. Andrew AME Church. She adored her loving family, friends and neighbors and she never knew a stranger. She had the gift to make everyone she met feel like and old family friend. She was a Mother and Grandmother to many. She loved playing Bingo and Nickle Bingo at the Moose, enjoyed entertaining, caring for her plants, traveling and going to church.

Katheryn worked for The Custers as a caretaker, had her own cleaning business, Katheryn Martins Cleaning Service, worked at the Coshocton Country Club as a bartender for many and years and retired from the County Home as a dietitian.

She is survived by her loving family including her five children, Gayle DeLoach, Anthony “Tony” Martin, Otis “Lee” Martin, Kathy (Timothy) Martin Lowery and David Martin; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Ellen Martin; daughter to another mother, Vicki Young, and former daughters-in-law, Linda Kidd and Katie Martinelli.

Along with her parents and husband, Katheryn is preceded in death by her son, Grady Martin Jr., one grandson, Demiko DeLoach, two great-grandchildren, Nezariah Covington and Issac Nelson: sister, Maggie Hawthorne and special friend, Nancy Stiner.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
