Evelyn Florence Turner

Evelyn Turner, longtime resident of Coshocton, passed on to be with her Lord on November 2, 2015. Evelyn was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on September 24, 1921. She married Raymond F. Turner of Coshocton on February 25, 1946. Her husband passed away on December 4, 1967.

She is survived by her two sons, Ed and Bob, her niece, Susan McDevitt, her seven grandchildren, Sean, Jason, Ryan, Grant, Annie, Briana, and Erin and her nine great grandchildren. Evelyn worked for Montgomery Ward as the head cashier for many years prior to its closure and thereafter was the clerk of the Coshocton County Draft Board during the Vietnam War. She had a special place in her heart for each of the servicemen from Coshocton that served their country and died during that conflict.

She moved to Naples, Florida in 1973 and worked for the US Department of Forestry until her retirement in 1986. She returned to Coshocton in 1989 to be close to her family and friends and resided at the Autumn Care Assisted Living Center for the last several years. She loved the outings with the Center, winning at bingo and especially enjoyed the staff that was so helpful to her during her stay at the Center. Some of her favorite times were spent with family, enjoying ice cream and pie, lunching in Roscoe Village and taking long drives to Holmes County together. Evelyn cherished her family and spoke endlessly about her pride in all of their accomplishments to all that would listen. She was unwavering in her love for her Lord, her family and her country.

Mass celebrating Evelyn’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a reception at the Knights of Columbus hall at 250 South 11th Street in Coshocton immediately following the service. Private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any contributions be made in Evelyn’s memory to Sacred Heart Church, 805 Main Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
