A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 W Broadway, Granville, Ohio, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Karen Chakoian and the Reverend Deb Dingus officiating. Family will greet friends and neighbors in Heritage Hall following the memorial service. A private family graveside service will take place in Coshocton at a later time.
Douglas was born on May 22, 1970 in Coshocton, Ohio to Gene B. and Dee Lynn (Bible) Grace. He graduated from Coshocton High School, Bowling Green State University, and Union Theological Seminary, New York City.
Following college, his career began in Washington, D.C. working for the Conference of Mayors. He then joined the Presbyterian Washington Office, a religious voice on Capitol Hill, as their associate for domestic issues and becoming the associate for outreach, traveling nationally and internationally. He then went on to head the Interfaith Climate and Energy Campaign with the National Religious Partnership for the environment. While attending Union Seminary, he served Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church as an intern, and after graduating, was director of their homeless program for the city of New York. Returning to Washington, he served as Director of the Ecumenical Advocacy Days working nationally for peace and justice issues, and coordinating and leading a religious conference each year of about 1,000 attendees.
When Douglas moved back to Ohio, he was involved with helping and addressing the homelessness of Licking County volunteering at a warming center, helping to be a mentor to those in need, and religious work. He was ordained into the Presbyterian ministry on June 26, 2022, at the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church, Pickerington, Ohio, where he served as their pastor.
In addition to his parents, Douglas is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lora Lynn and Douglas Eugene Arledge, Circleville, and two nieces, Delaney Lynn and Mariah Jean Arledge; aunt and uncles, Dr. Gary and Tamia Bible, TN; Dean Grace, Newark, and Max Grace, CO; cousins Dr. Rachael Bible, TN; Tresha Grace, Newark; Travis (Michelle) Grace, CO; Todd Grace, NY; Karen (Mike) Wright, Kathy Stone, and Greg (Lisa) Walters, Coshocton, Carrie Grace, CO, and Curtis Grace, PA. Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Orland and Louise Bible and Edward and Virginia Warren; aunt Betty Grace Walters, uncle Edward Grace, and cousins Troy and Ty Grace.
