Roger Dale Powe had his homegoing this past Sunday, December 30, 2012. Roger was 58 years old born in the state of Mississippi, June 22, 1954. Roger is survived by Karen Powe, his wife of 33 years, one son Chuck Mathis Powe, two grandchildren: Christopher Del Powe, and Lainie Powe; one brother Carl Powe, one sister Kathy Milstead; his mother Pinkie Powe, and his uncle Aaron Jones.
Heaven received a joyful servant. Higher than I have ever been was his spiritual appetite for fellowship with our Lord. Because of his fervor for gospel music, one of his favorite past times was working with musicians. Everything he worked with he made more beautiful. He made everyday life special.
Roger was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. I am deeply appreciative to Christus Spohn Hospice personnel Sheril and Betty for their faithful and loving care. The pain that goes with the disease brought Roger and I together for a stronger prayer life. As we were verbalizing our love and appreciation to God, Lanine, our three-year-old granddaughter also learned to pray. Her joyful inspiration helped give him purpose to live despite the weariness of his body.
Roger was a world-reowned hair dresser, my best friend, the one who made me happy, the one who made my life fulfilling and rewarding. Roger was a decisive, loyal, tender, sensitive and amazingly creative man. My spirit soars at the faithfulness of our God. The good work God did in Roger has brought him complete in Christ to the glory of heaven’s portals.
Funeral Service will be held at Church of Acts on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. Burial Services will be held in Buckatunna, Mississippi where his body will reside.
