Robert Andrew Snell

Robert Andrew Snell, 81, was born March 8, 1933 in Clear Lake, Oklahoma and left us November 30, 2014 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He spent his childhood and young adulthood in Oklahoma, and for a time he and his mother operated a flower shop in the city of Beaver. In 1962, he moved to Southern California where he began his career working for McDonald’s restaurants.

In 1964, he met and married Marion L. Davies. They moved to La Mirada, California where they raised their three children—Ann L. Odle, Scott E. Odle and Laura M. Peck. This December would have been Robert and Marion’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Robert retired from McDonald’s in the late 1980s, and started selling real estate in California for a few years. After Marion retired in 1996, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to help raise their grandson, William B. Peck.

Robert was always one to dabble in the kitchen, perfecting recipes for pickled eggs, okra, green beans and his famous jalapeno jelly.

Robert was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church; where he enjoyed helping in the church kitchen and with the newsletter-folding group on Wednesday mornings. If he wasn’t there, you could always find him shopping at one of the many the local vegetable markets he loved to stop at.

Robert has left behind many friends, old and new. He is survived by his sister Mable Leisher of Beaver, Oklahoma; his daughters Ann Odle and Laura Peck; his son and daughter in law Scott Odle and Joy Kobashigawa; and his grandson, William Peck.

He will be remembered for his strength, his love for God, his family, and especially his wife Marion. He will be missed for his gifts of jalapeno jelly to family, neighbors and friends.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church. Private family burial will be at a later date at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
