Robert "Bobby" Aaron Craig

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Aaron Craig, known affectionately as “Bobby,” who left this world much too soon at the age of 42 on April 4, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born in Galveston, Texas, Bobby’s life was a vibrant journey marked with laughter, resilience, and the unforgettable roar of his motorcycle.

Bobby’s life was one lived loudly and without hesitation, often with the radio turned up and the wind teasing through his beard as he cruised down the road on his motorcycle. He radiated joy and created excitement every time he got on a bike, whether he was riding forward, backwards, sitting, or standing, His vibrant spirit and youthful energy were undeniable, when Bobby entered a room his presence was palpable. Bobby was the epitome of a man who never shied away from living life to the fullest, playing like the big kid he always was at heart. He was known for his bold and boisterous energy but those closest to him knew they could often find him writing a poem or soaking in a bubble bath.

From the young age of 11, Bobby embraced hard work with open arms. He began working as a roofer, quickly acquired skills in carpentry and was ultimately most proud of his career as a welder. His hands were rarely still, always building, fixing, or creating something of value. Bobby was not just a master of trades, his innate abilities in mechanics, contracting, and many other skills showcased his creative mind and tireless work ethic. He was a man who could fix or build anything, a trait that reflected his resourceful and courageous spirit.

His strong will and stubbornness were matched by a loving heart and a humor that pushed all limits. For most people, “shooting yourself in the foot” is just a saying they occasionally encountered and likely tried to avoid. For Bobby, it was a reality of life… twice. Bobby may not have always made the “right” choices, but you could usually bet that he was making them for the right reason.

Bekka, his only daughter and daddy’s princess, Xander, his best friend, Bryan, his stepson who taught him to be a father, Jaxon, whom he could not wait to meet, and Cleo, his four-legged PIC who gave the best cuddles, were his entire world. His children gave him strength during the rough times and laughter and joy all of the time. He was so proud of his children, knowing they were his greatest accomplishments. His family and friends will hold dear the stories we will be privileged to tell them of their one-of-a-kind, loving father.

Bobby cherished his family and would make it a point to tell them, starting most conversations with “Hey Sweetie” and never saying goodbye without an “I love you”. He is survived by his mother, Jessie Swinderman, who raised him with unconditional love and support; fiancé, Leslie Hunt, who loved him completely and became his safe haven in his storm, older brother, Dwayne Palmer, older sister, Damean (Chris) Duncan, older sister, Rikki Ramos, younger sister, Chelsea (Valerie) Perez, younger sister, Kayla (Scotty) McGaha, stepfather, Wade Swinderman, along with five nieces, Keile, Kellie, Rylan, Addie, and Emma, and five nephews, Christopher, Timothy, Ezekiel, Enrique, and Jones, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Bobby had a knack for making friends easily and making all friends feel like his best friend.

Bobby was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Nicholas Brun, father, David Brun, maternal grandfather, Jesse F. Craig, and step-grandparents, Robert and Gladys Sterling. Undoubtedly waiting for him at the door to Heaven was his dad, Timothy Sterling, and Granny, Lita Craig.

Bobby was known as a giving person, coming home barefoot more than once after giving away the shoes off his feet. And even in death his generous spirit lives on through the gift of organ and tissue donation, a testament to his true character. Bobby’s life was one of a kind, irreplaceable and cherished. As we celebrate his journey, we will continue to share stories of the man who has touched our lives so deeply, ensuring his spirit lives on in each of us forever.

Our family is immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our friends and family during this this challenging time. There are no words to fully express our thanks, but we are blessed to have such a strong community by our side.

A Memorial Service in Honor of Bobby's life will be celebrated at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
