Ramiro is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Valentina Saenz, his parents, his brothers, Sam, Jose Oscar, baby Oscar Saenz and his grandson: Ramiro “Bubba” Saenz, III. He is survived by his children: Ramiro Saenz Jr. (Hilda), Esther Gallegos (Armando), Rosalinda Saenz Ramirez, Nelda Esquivel (Jesse), Sister Jo Ann Saenz, Lydia Alaniz (Armando), Patricia Saenz-Ramirez (Onesimo) and Larry Ray Saenz Sr. (Patricia); brother: Rojelio (Lile) Saenz, Sr.; sister-in-law: Camilla (Abel) Herrera; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ramiro, an exceptional man, was well loved and respected by all that knew him. He was an individual of upstanding character. He loved to tell stories, tend to his garden, listen to his favorite music, cook and spend time with his family. Let me just say, he made great barbeque and carne guisada! He was a dependable family man and friend. He rose to every occasion deemed teachable.
This is one of our favorite stories: One day, as we were walking out of Home Depot, he shows us two small washers he is holding in his hand and says, “Look what I got.” Patricia says, “Did you take those? And you’re the one always giving us honesty lessons?” He then chuckles as he pulls out a receipt from his shirt pocket for 8 cents!!! He continued to say that no matter how small an item is, we do not take what does not belong to us.
