passed suddenly and reunited with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024, in Tyler,
Texas, at the age of 71.
Shelia was born Oct. 26, 1952, to Benjamin Antonio and Mary Ellan (Campbell) Ashley
in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she spent most of her life. She met her husband, John Robert
Poldrack, and married him on Sept. 11, 1970, in Corpus Christi. Together, they had two children: Meredith and Melany.
A graduate of Corpus Christi State University, now Texas A&M, Shelia pursued careers
as a nurse, production manager at Corpus Christi Army Depot, teacher, and a real estate agent.
She was creative too, spending time as a party clown, cake decorator, and crafter of elegant
wreaths and floral arrangements. Shelia was also a proud Westsider, a fan of Starbucks hot
chocolate, and a doting fur mom to Bella and numerous cats and dogs throughout the years.
Despite these passions and pursuits, Shelia’s greatest loves were her family and service
to God. Married for 53 years, Shelia and John cared deeply for one another and rarely spent
time apart. They were always eager to volunteer for vacation Bible school or AWANA and bring
meals to those in need. Shelia and John would spend hours crisscrossing the South and
Midwest to care for their beloved grandchildren. She always had time to listen and offer kind
words and wise counsel to anyone who called.
Shelia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Phyllis Ann (Robert) Heil. She
is survived by her husband, John; their two children, Meredith (Samuel S.) Poldrack-Segrist and
Melany (Charokee) Molina; five grandchildren, Samuel J.H. Segrist, Halle Molina, Malachi
Molina, Hannah Molina, Noah Molina; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX. 78415. It will be followed by a service at 11. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ministry or humane society of your choice in Shelia's name.
