Linda D. Contreras, 74, of Sinton, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born in Sinton, Texas on October 31, 1949 she was the third child of Enrique and Martina DeLeon of Odem, Texas. She was the apple of her Dad's eye, being the only girl with three brothers. She moved to Corpus Christi in her early 20's where she met and married Jesus E. Contreras of Robstown, Texas via Owatonna, Minnesota. Together they proudly parented and loved their son Michael J. Contreras and daughters Nancy A. Will and Patricia Contreras.
Linda and her husband Reverend Jesus E. Contreras served the Lord faithfully for decades pastoring and leading several congregations from Portland-Gregory to Annaville, Texas lastly serving together at El Mesias Baptist Church in Corpus Christi upon their retirement from ministry in 2017. She served in a multitude of roles throughout the years : church secretary, pianist, Sunday school teacher and led various women's ministries. Linda's love for Gospel music was well known by all who knew and loved her. Not to mention her love for classic country music, especially George Jones.
Linda retired from Corpus Christi City Employees Credit Union (now, Texas Bridge Credit Union) after a long career as a loan officer. She loved her job and the people she worked alongside of for over 25 years. She was known to be a strong woman of faith even in the workplace praying for those who came in needing assistance as well as members who would just pop in for a word of encouragement.
Linda is predeceased by her beloved husband, Reverend Jesus E. Contreras, and her parents Enrique and Martina DeLeon. She is survived by her three brothers Wally (Sylvia) DeLeon of Sinton, Texas: Henry (Diana) DeLeon of Sinton, Texas and her youngest brother Hector (Chela) DeLeon of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by her son Michael J. Contreras of San Antonio, Texas, her daughters Nancy A.(Todd) Will of Tampa, Florida and Patricia Contreras of Corpus Chrisiti, Texas; her cherished grandchildren Timothy Ramirez, Matthew Ramirez and beloved granddaughter Nichole Mancillas; along with five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Linda's life and Christ-filled legacy will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm at her home church Second Baptist Church, 6701 S. Staples Street Corpus Christ, Texas 78413 to be followed by a reception in the church's fellowship hall.
