Laura Brunnemann Allison

She was born in Santa Rosa, TX on November 22, 1930. She spent her early life in Rio Grande City, TX until the family moved to San Benito, TX where she grew up with her three brothers. Laura graduated from San Benito High School in 1948 and attended Secretarial School after graduation. She began working for the Immigration Dept in Brownsville, TX. This began her career as an Office Manager in several businesses.

Laura married Charles Allison, her husband of 34 years, on September 2 , 1950. After residing in San Benito for several years the family moved to Corpus Christi TX where they raised their 4 daughters.

Laura was very active in the Methodist Church where she played the organ, piano, and sang in the choir for Wesley United Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Women and Hope Circle at Grace Methodist. Laura was also an involved member of Beta Sigma Phi, a service sorority, for over 60 years. Most of her time was devoted to her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sewing dresses, play clothes, formals, wedding gowns and veils; crocheting throws for the kids; growing her roses; watching the hummingbirds on her porch. She was known for her gumbo, Cowboy Cookies, French toast, German Chocolate and Fruit Cakes. She loved celebrating all occasions with her family, especially Christmas, Easter, and July 4th. Her greatest joy was cooking and caring for her family whenever and wherever they gathered.

She will be remembered for her love of family and her faith, her unconditional love for her girls, her motherly advice for anyone who needed it, her tenacious competitive spirit, and her kindness and grace to everyone she met.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Virda Brunnemann; brothers, Frank and Nelson; and her knight in shining armor, Charlie.

Left to cherish her memory are her four girls, Charlee Hagan (Russ), Bunny Monroe (Bill), Kris Zastoupil (Patrick), and Lynn Inman (Tom); brother Tony Brunnemann (Dotty). She was adored by her grandchildren, Carrie Sinosic (Brian), Morgan Smyth (Reina), Elizabeth McLain (Chris), Jackie Hagan, Robert Monroe (Alicia), Leslie Monroe, David Monroe (Allison), John Zastoupil (Lauryn), Frank Zastoupil (Shannon), Laura Agee (Luke), Collier McKenzie (Lauren), Blake McKenzie (Kelly), Kelly Beran (Stephen), and Tommy Inman; as well as her 21 great-grandkids (or maybe 22 by the time you read this!). She was also loved and will be missed dearly by her many nieces and nephews.

Our mom’s life was a testament to her devotion to faith, family, and friends. We were blessed to have her as a mother and a friend.

A special thanks goes to River Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation and Nurses on Wheels for the time, care, and love they gave to our mom. They became family and we are so thankful for them.

A visitation for Laura will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Grace Methodist Church, 14521 Northwest Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 21, 2024 at 9:30 AM, 14521 Northwest Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. An interment - private will occur.
