Sitting here thinking about you I’m losing my mind I need you here I miss you this isn’t  easy  being without you has made me realize how much more I need you in my life you always made me a better person even on my worst days you picked me up off the ground when I was falling to my lowest you always put a smile on my face wiped my tears and told me everything will be okay I know it’s been so long that I haven’t came on here and wrote but today I finally put some pieces of me together and held my strength to come on here and write I never was able to be strong enough to write on here I didn’t want to relive the feeling of knowing your really gone again but  im breaking Johnny everyday you are on my mind  I ask god everyday why him why there is no way he needed you more then me I’m not trying to be selfish but Johnny I miss you so much the other day when I was having a really bad one usually you would be the one I would run too but I couldn’t later on that night  I had a dream of you and you reminded me that you are always with me hugged me so tight wiped my tears and told me everything is gonna be okay I miss that Johnny when I woke up I cried and cried you don’t understand what that meant to me I love you always and can’t wait till we meet again 😔🫶🏼

It’s gonna be 6 months this month coming up Jr I miss you more than ever , it hasn’t been the same without you here not a day goes by where I don’t think about you I know it’s been hard on your mom but I try my best to check on her from time to time I promise imma make you proud Jr I love you and miss you lots .

Man i know this is very bad timing but Johnny was a great person. I knew him in elementary and after we split to go to different middle schools, he tried to hit me up. I responded but i never got a response. I only wish now that i would've responded sooner. Johnny and i were like brothers. We were the kings of elementary but now that he's gone. I feel as though a big part of me is missing. RIP brother, I love you man.

Man. I know I'm late to this because I haven't found the words to say but , Johnny you were such a amazing soul a lil hard headed sometimes but the best person. Not a day goes by that I don't think about u.  You always brought light to me and never failed to make me smile and laugh when I was down .You were there for me when I thought I lost everything after my injury I thought my basketball career was over and you said just do what the docs say and recover that I'd be back soon enough and you were right  . Tbh you were one of the realest , kindest , loving , caring person I've  ever known. Love you always big head  

I miss you man not a day goes by without you in my head its hard for me to sleep hard for me to do anything Idk what to do anymore I know you would not wanna see me like this I wake up open my blinds and talk to you it’s crazy never thought I would lose you 💔 I’ll never forget all the memories we had Johnny never. You were always trying to cheer me up you were the brightest person In every room always changing my mom I’m a good mood you were like a brother I never had always fed me always took care of my baby brother always wanted to help my mom cook always just wanted to help someone at the end of the day -Charlie, Iris 

Johnny… I am not very good at writing these things.    There hasn’t been a year since you left Grant that your name hasn’t been brought up.  You have left a lasting impression on every teacher that you crossed paths with at Grant.  I remember taking breaks in my classroom with you and we would just color and talk.  I still have some of your drawings.  I remember this one time, near Valentine’s Day, you brought me something that your girlfriend had made you and you wanted to leave it in my classroom.  It was a huge poster filled with pictures of you and her and you absolutely loved it, even tho you wouldn’t admit it.  The minute that release bell rang, you came and picked that poster up!  You were so loving and full of energy!  You will always have a place in my heart!  Rest In Peace Johnny, until we meet again.  <3

I think that I have typed and deleted so many paragraphs while I write this. Mainly because I am still like many others, in complete disbelief. 

Johnny you taught a young teacher how to love ALL kinds of students from ANY background and adversity. Help ALL students have a chance to shine their light. When we needed a center for the football team due to low numbers from Covid; you were there. When I needed someone to put out the equipment or clean it up after, you were there. When we needed to lock in as a team, hold other guys accountable and grow together you were there. You were loyal to those you cared for. From the teachers who touched your heart, to the coach who loved you as their own, even to the custodians whom you would share laughs with. You were a light! It deeply saddens me that your light shined for so short, for I truly feel you had alot to give the world. I got to see an authentic side or Johnny that most never have. From running 400 meter races or relays, to doing towel pushes and flipping tires for misbehavior, to being the last player to pick up the locker room after and ask a question about life or plays all in the same day mind you - you were there.

I asked Johnny in 2021 for a character assignment what his “why” was - and he stated to me in a paper this message.

“My biggest goal was that I out did myself better than the last. A nd knowing that I gave my all is all that matters.
I would say that my baby baby sister would be my motivation, she makes me want to do better and not fall onto a path that she won't ever get to see me.”

As I read this now, it reminds me that your intentions were always pure, your heart was full of love for your family. And your impact on me as a coach is forever. Your story will live on! Rest easy my guy. Forever love you kid. 

You were the best little boy very sweet and good hearted. We snacked on chips and hot sauce on some occasion.  We had a lot of laughs. I used to watch you when you were little. You were one handsome little boy. You will always be missed. Love and miss you forever. <3

Johnny.....you were one of my biggest challenges as a Math teacher, but also one of my greatest successes!  We had our ups and downs in class, but outside....you were such a caring and loving young man.  I saw the great potential you had and loved when you came by my room each day and yelled "Mrs. Westerkom in your loudest voice!  I always knew I could count on you to make my day better when you came by!  You never hesitated to help and always had a great big smile on your face!  I will treasure the short time we had together!  You definitely left a forever memory in my heart! Rest easy my student!  You will be truly missed!

To my jr, my bestfriend , my lil brother , and my dawg 4ever. I miss you every single day, you were such a sweet soul and always cared about other people , there was never a dull moment with you lil one. If i needed anyone i knew you were always one call away or 5 mins away . I miss picking u up from school everything, i miss all our memories at the old carroll 🤣, the little things. You had such a beautiful smile and continue to smile up there for me , i wish i could call you and ask to scoop you 😂❤️I miss you blowing up my phone because you wanted to see me  I wish you could just come over and we could sit in grandmas backyard and talk like we would do . You had my back for whatever and anything i needed you would help, such a big heart jr. I love you and i’ll miss you forever my heart. ❤️ watch over us all ml

To my son JR ...I know there were times where we didnt see eye to eye but somehow managed to get past the bumps in the road with our relationship!!! You were the BEST biggest brother we could have EVER asked for !!! Your beautiful smile lit up the DARKEST days not just for us but for EVERYONE !!! One thing I know for sure is that you will always be apart of me and hold a very very special place in this HUGE broken heart of mine!! We needed you here with us forever BUT he needed you more than us to be his MVA (most valuable ANGEL) to guide and protect us from the bad days that lie ahead for your sisters and brother whom miss you dearly!!! Only he knows why he called you home to PARADISE so we will have to wait for that answer when we get there!! I know when that sun shines BRIGHT on us that will be your smile letting us know that your ok and you have us covered!!! I love you JR always and forever with all my life and all my whole world!!! Rest in paradise dad!!! Your legacy will live through us ESPECIALLY your siblings!!!

In 7th grade, this was his spot in my science class...  if he wouldn't do his work, I'd stand next to him and sing " Johnnys daddy takes him to fishing " he would tell me to stop... he would tap my wall when he goes to restroom and I'd shout his name : JOHNNY!! And he will shout back " Ms. Aye!!" Rest easy, son!! 

My heart is so broken. I couldn’t believe you were gone. I still can’t. I can still hear your little giggle when you thought something was funny. You were a special boy and I’m really going to miss your tight hugs. Your random visits at work. I’m going to miss asking you if you’re being a good boy and the little laugh before you say yes ma’am. I just miss you. I know you’ll always be with me and I want you to know that we’ve always loved you. Fly high sweet boy. 

I will always remember Johnny walking to my car after I parked at Grant Middle School. He would always greet me with a ‘Good Morning miss’. He would always ask if I needed help carrying anything; which sometimes I did. 
Unfortunately, sometimes I saw Johnny in my office :) He would always apologize and own up for what he did. There were times he’d stop by and ask to speak to me so he didn’t have to go to class. There were times I’d let him if there was a sub, and he’d do his work in my office:) Everyone would say ‘your Johnny’ is here if he ever went in the office.

I will always remember seeing Johnny in the morning as I parked my car at Grant Middle School. He would always check to see if I needed help carrying anything to my office. He was always willing to help and always greeted me respectfully. 
Unfortunately, sometimes he ended up in my office :) He’d own up and apologize to me and whoever else he needed to. I loved speaking with him and sharing stories about family and life. The office people would say ‘your Johnny’  is here the many times he’d ask to speak with me.

Never a dull moment with you Johnny boy. You most definitely would cheer up a room with your big smile and your constant funny and loud self.  May you Rest In Peace 🕊 You are forever in our thoughts and prayers.  WE MISS YOU ♥️ 

Your face lit up every room you walked into. You brought a smile to everyones face, always! Always joking, making silly faces, making sure no one was upset while in your presence. You were born a natural protector. A nurturer. You always looked out for your family, your friends and even your friends family. Constantly checking in on those you cared about. I knew you as the first love of my oldest niece, you stole her heart & you also stole my childrens hearts as well. Taking the time out of your day to play fortnite on the xbox with my 7yr old son.  You had a way of making not only my kids but all kids feel special and important, just by giving your time. Something most adults forget how to do sometimes. I thank you for that! I will always remember you as someone who was given the gift of true, unconditional love. I will remember you as Jr the kid who loved beyond measures. You loved your siblings, your mom and your dads so much. I pray they find peace after losing you because I myself am still having trouble processing it. Fly high Jr! We love && miss you forever! -

To the little boy next store who grew into a young man in a blink of an eye..To the little boy next store who would always run to help with anything i needed.. I will always remember you no shirt or shoes playing in front with your siblings. I hope they know how much you love them and i hope you know how much they love you.. Junior i hope your room is perfect up there i hope your great grandparents were waiting for you . You were a blessing to know and love. Send a special angel to your mom she needs it. Oh sweet boy my heart aches so much 😞 when me and your mom got our first apartment you were so little. I knew nothing about kids but watching you grow and run around was such a blessing. You and your mom taught me what it’s like to be a mother. I love you so much and you will forever be missed.  I love you jr Always&Forever 

I will forever remember your funny dances, our long talks about life and girls, ♥️  your goofy personality and your brotherly instinct to my babies. We will truly miss you Johnny ❤️

I’ve known Jr since 3rd grade. He was one of my first ever friends I met when I moved to Corpus. He was the sweetest most kindest person I have ever been friends with. He kept it real 24/7 & loved each and every one of his family members and friends. I will always cherish the moments I had with you & always will love you. -Love, Klarissa.💕

It won’t let me add the video, but this day jr went to go help me pick out a gift for a birthday. We never even got to pick out the present until like 4 hours later because all we did was eat, talk & laugh. We got so tired of walking and goofing around we sat down at the massaging chairs and we continued to giggle about the weirdest stuff ever. Johnny was more than just a regular friend to me. He was family to me, not by blood, but by heart. This is a day I’ll forever get to cherish & remember forever. I miss you jr. ❤️😞

I love you and miss you so much son. I will forever cherish every memory of you and you will forever live in our hearts ❤️ You we're such an amazing big brother and son and miss you so so so much. I pray your at peace baby boy and just know that I will not give up this fight and I will continue to raise your brother and sisters like you'd want because I know you keep telling me don't give up. I want you so much just to here all your complaints in the mornings on how your hair wasn't working right or how your shoes would crease when you walked. Or ask for my opinion on what outfit looks good. I want to hear you pest your brother and sisters one more time or give them advice on what they should except in life. I want you to tell me "Mom I'm taking Jmo to the park so we can play baseball" or "Mom I'll be with the kids outside so they could play". Every ounce of you is missed tremendously son, you'll forever live on. I love you my baby boy.
