Jesus Williars of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 101 years old. He was born in Eagle Pass, Texas, on September 30, 1922, to his parents, Mariano Willars and Guillermina Martinez.
Jesus enlisted in the military and proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps as the rank of Corporal until May 16, 1945, when he was Honorably Discharged. Shortly after, on July 4, 1946, Jesus married his beloved wife, Armandina Vidaurri, in Laredo, Texas. In 1950, he went back to school to finish receiving his formal education and completed his GED. In 1970, Jesus decided to further his education and attended Del Mar College to receive training in the fundamentals of electricity. He used this education to fuel his career during his work for the Department of the Army at the Corpus Christi Army Depot. Jesus worked for CCAD for 38 years and eventually retired on June 1, 1989.
Though he was a skilled electrician, Jesus also enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid dancer who enjoyed sharing this hobby with his wife, Armandina. He also loved nature; if he wasn’t enjoying his garden and landscaping his yard, he might be found sitting on his porch admiring the night sky. Above all, Jesus loved spending time with his family, whether at family functions, barbeques, or watching baseball and cheering on his favorite team – the New York Yankees; he was there with a smile. Jesus will be dearly missed for his warm smile and kind heart.
Jesus is reunited with his beloved wife, Armandina Willars; and daughter, Rebecca Canales. He leaves his memories to his son, Jesse Willars; grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Canales, Kenneth (Diane) Canales, Leslie (Rudy) Canales, Adrian (Xavier) Torres, Matthew (Christie) Willars, and Alexandria (Preston) Neill; and numerous great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 PM until 9 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, where a Celebration of Life will occur that same evening at 7 PM. A Funeral Service will begin at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 24, 2204, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Interment with Final Military Honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
