Hermelinda Y. Garcia

Hermelinda Y. Garcia, 91 years young, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on August 5, 2023. She was born in Sarita, Texas on March 16, 1932, to Manuel and Maria Yanez. She was one of seven children and was sadly orphaned at the young age of sixteen years old.

On August 8, 1952, she married Cecilio R Garcia, and together they raised her three younger brothers, and three children of their own. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and was very committed to her faith. She enjoyed going to brunch after church with her friend, Yolanda Ramirez and a couple other church ladies. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing while listening to music and singing along. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years,Cecilio; her parents; daughter, Amelia Soliz; granddaughter, Anna D Soliz; and all of her siblings.

She is survived by her two children, Adelina G Riojas (Robert), and Armando Garcia (Roseanna); twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. All of whom will miss her and cherish all the beautiful memories made.

Pallbearers will be Armando Garcia, Sr., Armando Garcia, Jr., Abel Garcia, Angel Riojas, Christopher Chavez, Nicole Nelson, Mario Gonzales, and Brian Villarreal.

A public visitation for Hermelinda will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A holy rosary will occur Friday, August 11, 2023 at 7:00 PM, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 540 Hiawatha St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78405. An interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
