Gloria Flores Ortiz

Gloria F. Ortiz passed away on January 16, 2024 at 95 years old. She was born on November 29, 1928 in Sonora, TX. Gloria graduated from Miller High School and earned her LVN degree from Del Mar College. She then went on to earn her RN degree, receiving additional training in Dallas, TX and retired as Director of Nurses at Retama Manor North Nursing Home.

Gloria loved jigsaw puzzles, reading books and spending time in her garden watering her plants. She enjoyed looking out at the park in front of her house watching the kids play and people walking. Gloria also loved going to the bayfront and looking out at the water and boats, watching western movies, mystery movies, and detective movies. Her favorite movie star was Lou Diamond Phillips.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Ortiz; sons, Ismael F. Ortiz and Albert F. Ortiz; brother, Armando Flores; sister, Elizabeth Ramirez; father, Ysabel Guerrero Flores; and mother, Sara Barrera Flores.

Survivors are her daughters, Anna Dooley and Ava Ortiz; son, Daniel Ortiz (Roxanna); sisters, Lucy Sendejo and Estella Jimenez (Emilio); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel-Everhart, 4901 Everhart Rd., on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening.

Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Rosehill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St.
