He was born on December 23, 1948, in Raymondville, Texas, and graduated from San Perlita High School. On April 28, 1973, he married the love of his life, Celia Rios, in LaSara, Texas.
Ernesto worked as an Electrician Journeyman for D&F Industries and took great pride in his trade. He was also an active and devoted member of several organizations, including the Lions Club, the LaSara Volunteer Fire Department, and the Lone Wolf No Club Motorcycle Club.
A true outdoorsman, Ernesto enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Sundays during football season were reserved for cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved staying up to date with world events, watching the news, and calling family members to talk about the weather. Gardening brought him peace, whether growing vegetables, fruit, or flowers, and he had a special fondness for caring for his chickens. Ernesto had a gift for storytelling, often sharing tales of his running days and memorable fishing trips, hunting trips with friends and family. He was passionate about his gun collection and took pride in sharpening his knives. His BBQ ribs were legendary, and he was always ready with a classic dad joke to bring a smile to your face. Known for his warmth and kindness, Ernesto never met a stranger. You could always find him in his signature cowboy hat, often waiting by the mailbox to greet the mailman with a friendly chat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adan and Santos Llanes, and his brother, Daniel Llanes.
