What can I say about coach Davis? He was such an  important part of my youth and he kept in touch for over 30 years. Rest in paradise  Coach. 🙏  

Just found out, really sorry to hear this! Great Coach and a greater guy to a teenager in the early 90's in California...He'll be missed!

I was saddened and want to express my condolences to all family and friends of Coach Don Davis after his passing.  I knew Coach Davis while I was a reporter for the Falfurrias Facts Newspaper when he became and served as the head football coach and athletic director for the Premont Independent School District in the 1990's.  Coach Davis was a very professional and outstanding coach and athletic director and a very easy and accessible person to work with.  Again my sincerest condolences and may Coach Davis Rest in Peace.

Rest in Peace Coach Davis. You are and forever will be an integral part of the man I am today. Not only were you a great coach to me in the sport I still love today, but as it has been so well mentioned you instilled important core values into your players. 

For me, you reinforced the meaning of upholding those values to this day.

Thank you for being there for my family during some of our most difficult times. I will forever be grateful for the memories we made together. You stepped in as a father figure, though you had no obligation to do so. You ensured we had a roof over our heads, food on the table, and a shoulder to lean on during tough times. 

You took us traveling to places we never thought we would ever get to see, and took us to some of the best restaurants. 
I will miss our talks about history and bonding over our love of music. 

Thank you for loving me as your own daughter. 

May you rest peacefully surrounded by beautiful scenery and good music. One day we’ll play guitar together again.

I was very fortunate to call Coach Don my friend. I met him in 1999 when we both worked in Danbury ISD and continued our friendship the rest of our respective educational careers.  After we both retired, we reconnected via social media and enjoyed discussing current events, politics, history, good books and of course, high school football.
I will miss those interactions for sure.
May his memory be a blessing ❤️

Thank you! You help mold many of us into young men that were ready for the real world. Football was second to us becoming gentlemen, and to bunch of us the message to become the best version of our selves wasn’t something we were thinking about or was it a clear view! All these years later we know now, and understand that you took the time to instill values that would help us not only in football but to help put gentlemen and model citizens into the world. All the noise from the outside never stopped you from following what you believed was the right thing for these kids! 
We as players will have memories and lessons that will live on forever! Thank you for being you! Thank you for being part of so many kids lives and helping improve and believe in them selves. 
Rest easy coach! Knowing that your advice, mentorship, and love for the game will live on through all those who played and coached with you.

-Coach always liked to wear his best outfits for what’s important. He’d always say you se me dressed up it’s because it’s important to me.  So if y’all saw him dressed up, just know it was important;)

Words can’t really express what Don Davis has done for me. Back in 1996 he took me under his wing and taught me  a lot about Football, Teaching, and how to conduct myself as a professional. If it weren’t for Don Davis I don’t think I would of stayed in Teaching and Coaching. I thank God for him and till this day I still use what he has taught me in the classroom. God is good and always finding a way of putting us together. I live in Indiana now and I came down for a visit and randomly went to a HS game in Corpus and miraculously ran into him in the stands. I can’t tell you what happened in the game but we had a great time together, laughing and telling stories. My heart hurts today, but I know God has a way of reuniting us. I will see you some day in Heaven again. Rest in Peace Don. You will be missed by many people.

Thank you for being the greatest neighbor. I’m going to miss our conversations. I’m going to miss seeing you sitting in your patio, enjoying your cigar and waving at me, every day. I’m glad you gave me the opportunity to be there for you at your time of need. It was my pleasure and you sir “were a peach” as you would tell me. You were loved and will be truly missed. Fly high my friend.🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

On behalf of my family, Ceci, Jackson, and Jacob… we would like to convey our deepest condolences to all who cared about Don. He will be remembered as an outstanding teacher, coach, and friend. He genuinely cared about the lives of the young students whom he positively impacted and the friends made throughout his life. 

Incredibly well spoken, well read, and erudite, Don was always ready to talk and debate history, politics, or current events. While we were both coaches, our best conversations revolved around history and politics. 

Don owned two guitars and was quite the singer. He sang old George Strait songs, but I know he preferred Jimmy Buffet tunes. 

Don lived by a simple set if values, be honest,  
generous, and humble. His only extravagance was his Harley-Davidson. Because of his character, he was a great mentor to so many young coaches and teachers. 

The world has one less gentleman… RIP friend.


Thank you for being such a great friend and mentor.  My family and I will miss you dearly. 

Thank you, Don, for being one of my best friends for 30 years. I learned so much from you. I will miss our conversations, but will cherish the memories. Rest easy, my friend. “In another time, in a happier place, we’ll meet again.”
