He graduated from St.Mary's High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1974. He served on active duty in the Army for four years and eight years in the National Guard.
David Alvarado is preceded in death by his parents, Florencio and Socorro Alvarado, two sisters, Gloria and Maria Del Refugio, brother Florencio Alvarado Jr. and Mother-in-law, Maria Diaz.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Esther Alvarado, son Rene Alvarez, daughter Amy Alvarado, grandsons Joshua and Jeremy Alvarez and granddaughter Jaylynn Alvarado. His siblings, Joe(Francis) Alvarado, Yolanda(Oscar) Martinez, Rafael (Cooky) Alvarado, Toni (Joe) Vela, Rosa(Jorge) Moreno, Alicia(Lupe) Martinez, Father-in-law David Diaz, brothers and sisters-in-law Pablo (Adelina) Diaz, Diana (David) Martinez, David Diaz Jr., Sylvia (Emilio) Maldonado and several nieces and nephews.
David always maintained a positive attitude throughout his prolonged illness and did not ever let it bring him down. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to Las Vegas and to New Orleans to play the slot machines. He worked as an insurance agent for 20 years for Southern Life and Health, United Insurance and Reliable Insurance.

A public visitation for David will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 12:30 PM. A holy rosary will occur Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 1:30 PM. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 3:00 PM.
