He was born on June 23, 1948 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Charles M. and Adele N. Mills.
He is preceded in death by both parents.
Billy Joe was a very loving husband and father to his family. He began working at the young age of 6 years old as a dishwasher.
He then went on to have various jobs such as working in the oil fields until joining the U.S. Army and faithfully serving his country for 14 years. After the Army, he became a truck driver for 20 years until he retired. He enjoyed painting landscapes, working around his home, and spending time with his family. He was a very happy person and always enjoyed life to the fullest.
Billy Joe is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Lydia S. Mills; children: Billy Joe Mills, Jr., Rita Dickinson and husband Jim, Joyce Ammons, Shiela O’Bryan and husband Mike, Charles Mills, Bianca Holt and husband Eliud, David Holt and wife Rhonda, and Joey Obregon; 19 beautiful grandchildren; siblings: William Hanner, Roy Mills and wife Sandra, Michael Mills and wife Melanie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly.
Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
