Betty G. Newsome

She was the first female to retire from the Texas Department of Public Safety as a communications officer "dispatcher". She was also a member of the Department of Public Safety Officers Association. She was the matriarch of the family. Betty cared for all her loved ones and was a true nurturer.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Lee Newsome; and a sister, Neta Kirby.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her sister, Billie Morris; her children, Charles Steven Newsome, Patrice Puckett (Freddy); daughter-in-law, Clara Newsome; grandchildren, Eric Newsome (Misty), Greg Newsome, Amanda Newsome, Patricia Herridge (Jon), Julie Lumbrezer (Noah), Jared Roberts (Jessie), Amy Zakahi (Josh); great-grandchildren, Cara, Micah, Anna, Judah Newsome, Hunter, Caleb Herridge, Brinley Paige Lumbrezer, Matthew Roberts, Mason Zakahi, Savanna, Liberty and Michael Roberts and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors Chapel. Inurnment to follow.
