Arnoldo Moreno passed away April 10, 2011 at the age of 71. He was born in 1940 in San Diego, Texas to parents Juan Moreno and Lupita Villarreal Moreno. He was a graduate of San Diego High School and Del Mar College where he earned 2 associate degrees . He served proudly in the United States Army for 20 years where he bravely completed three tours in Vietnam. He retired honorably as a Master Sergeant, receiving numerous honors and medals. He was retired from Sechrist Hall as a Warehouse Manager.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Juvencio Moreno, and granddaughter, Samantha Gonzales Nash.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernarda (Lala) G. Moreno; sisters, Dalia Moreno of San Diego, Texas; Diana Guzman of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Dora Fitzgerald of Chesapeake, Virginia; son, Joel (Robin) Moreno of Kemah, Texas; daughter, Maricella Moreno of Austin, Texas; stepchildren, Juan Carlos (Sandra) Gonzales, Nelda (Zeke) Perez, and Patricia (Jose) Gonzales; grandchildren, Devin Moreno, Brendan Moreno, Caitlyn Benavidez, Madelyn Zack, Evan James Zack, Luis Cruz, Bernadette Perez, J.C. Gonzales, Trey Perez, Caleb Maldonado, Cayden Maldonado, and Chastain Maldonado; and 4 great granddaughters, Miranda Cruz, Madison Cruz, Marissa Cruz, and Sabrina Klusacek.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Harbor View Specialty Hospital for making his last days comfortable and peaceful; and also John and Blanca Flores for their great help in our times of need. Serving as pall bearers are J.J. Galvan, Devin Moreno, Trey Perez, J.C. Gonzales, and Luis Cruz.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel- Memorial Holly Chapel, 3442 Holly Road, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at S.S. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
