Linda Lu Jones passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 31, 2024. A pillar of grace, kindness, and eloquence, Linda touched countless lives with her unwavering compassion and gentle spirit.
Born on April 12, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona, Linda was the beloved daughter of Karl Hansen Miller and Ida May Ware Miller. She was the youngest of three sisters, Betty and Karla. There was a significant age gap between Linda and her sisters, and as a result, the family doted on her. She was a Daddy’s girl. From a young age, Linda exhibited a keen intellect and a heart full of love, characteristics that would define her entire life. She had a horse named Bessie Bell. She attended Bell High School, where she played basketball and performed in modern dance.
Linda married her sweetheart, Clifford Lloyd Jones, on June 27, 1958 in the Los Angeles Temple. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family and church. Linda and Clifford were blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Julie LeSueur, and Kate Johnson. Linda's love for her family was boundless, and she instilled in her children the values of kindness, empathy, and resilience. She was always mindful and attuned to others’ needs.
Linda was a world traveler. She especially loved Europe and spending time at their home in Garmisch, Germany. She spoke German, Italian, and Spanish, and often served as a tour guide for family and friends. She enjoyed needlepoint and made treasured stockings for all her family. Music was her passion; she was an accomplished pianist and taught guitar. She even funded their first trip to Europe with her teaching earnings. She directed many choirs, including starting the Eastwood Elementary School choir.
Throughout her life, Linda was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her home was always open, a sanctuary where friends and family gathered to share stories, laughter, and support. She loved to entertain and host holiday gatherings. Her kind heart and caring nature made her a cherished friend and confidante to many.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Clifford; her children, Jeffrey (Shelly), Julie (Blake), and Kate (Michael); her nine adored grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by a large extended family and countless friends.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Newport Stake Center, 2150 Bonita Canyon Dr, Newport Beach, CA.
The family will greet friends and those paying their respects prior to the service from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Linda's final resting place will be at Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625.
Linda Lu Jones lived a life of extraordinary kindness, eloquence, and grace. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives she so profoundly touched. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
