Lee Mayer passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2019 at age 92 in Tucson, Arizona. She spent the first part of her life in Brooklyn, New York and then relocated to Santa Ana, California in the 1960s with her husband, Jack, and young children Ellen and Jeff. She had many roles in her life including daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, library aide, and community activist. She held every job in PTS (PTSA) while her children were growing up, attended national meetings, and was honored with an achievement award. After two people were hit by cars at the intersection of Pacific Street and Warner Avenue, she worked tirelessly to get a street light installed so children from Jefferson Elementary School could cross safely. Along with fellow neighbor Dave Brandt she was instrumental in convincing the city of Santa Ana to establish Carl Thornton Park on Segerstrom Street. Her most cherished role however was in loving her family and friends. Lee and Jack hosted many family get-togethers and parties throughout the years, and their warmth and wonderful meals were legendary for those fortunate enough to be included. Before relocating to Tucson, Arizona to be near her son, she lived for twenty years at The Groves in Irvine, California, where she again made many friends and memories. She is survived by her children Ellen (Rick) Lang and Jeff (Robin) Mayer, her brother Don (Joanne) Angel, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Her burial was at Pacific View Memorial Park on April 7, 2019. A Celebration of Life ceremony is scheduled for what would have been her 93rd birthday on June 23, 2019 in Irvine, California.
