Deborah Ann Nooney Speier

Deborah Nooney Speier, late of Newport Beach, California, passed away on August 18, 2022. Deborah passed with her son, Elijah, by her side, as well as her sister, Nancy Nooney; her priest, Father Kerry; and many close friends.

Deborah was born on June 30, 1963, in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Villa Duchesne School and earned a degree from Vanderbilt University in 1985 with a BA in communications and business administration. Deborah went on to earn a master’s degree in real estate development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1986. From 1989 to 1992, she served as senior vice president of Nooney Management Company. In 1992, she became president and CEO of Dalton Investments, and in 1995, she took on the role of president of Nooney Properties Commercial. In addition, Deborah was a board member and director of facilities at Lady Queen of Angels School.

In her free time, Deborah was a volunteer at Human Options in Irvine, California. In 2005, she received the honor of being named Volunteer of the Year. Deborah was also a faithful and loving wife of Steven Speier, and doting mother of Elijah Speier. Those who knew Deborah remember her loving to throw a good party and her exceptional organizational skills.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Steven M. Speier; her son, Elijah Christian Speier; her sister, Nancy Nooney; and her nieces and nephews, Jackie and Faith Coladarci, Christopher, Sean, Nicholas, and William Kuse. Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, Faith Nooney and John J. “Jack” Nooney; and her sister, Kathleen Nooney. A funeral for Deborah will be held on September 22, 2022, at 1pm at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, 2046 Mar Vista Drive in Newport Beach. The family is planning a private burial in Calvary Cemetery on October 19th, 2022, at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations to be sent to Human Options in Irvine, California, in Deborah’s name.
