ROSE, Léona- Léona Rose (Deneault) passed away peacefully in the warm company of family and loved ones at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center in Cornwall on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in her 97th year. Born in Bourget in 1917, where she created many happy childhood memories, she then moved to Cornwall where she raised her own family and touched all who knew her with her generosity, kindness and joie-de-vivre. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, René Rose. She is survived by many who had the privilege of knowing her love including her loving children; her son Bernard Rose (his wife Carolyn Quig) of Brossard, QC and her daughter Ginette Merizzi (her husband Pierre) of Cornwall, ON. Cherished “Grandmère” of David Rose (Deirdre), Céline Merizzi-Laflèche (Vincent), Lynne Rose (Peter Henderson) and Chantal Merizzi and great-grandmother of Patricia, Amanda, Jacob, Chanelle, Jean D’Amour, Penelope, Emily and Josephine. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph Deneault and of the late Léonie Deneault (Ménard). Cherished sister of Georgette Brand, Marcelle Régnier (Laurent) and Jacqueline Larkin, all of Cornwall. She is predeceased by her brothers; Albert, Fernand and Gédéon Deneault and by her sisters; Berthe Séguin, Alice Villeneuve, Denise Moquin, Gabrielle Elston and Monique Champagne. A wonderful homemaker and cook, a dedicated matriarch, she had a sharp wit, a flair for signing and storytelling. Léona was deeply devoted to her faith. She passed on from this world satisfied with the knowledge that she had done all she could do, and was confident she would be welcomed into paradise with open arms by the Lord Jesus as well as all who were dear to her and who had passed before her. She will be missed. Resting at Lahaie and Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, East Branch, 614 First Street East (613-933-2841) from 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral will be held on Monday July 14th, 2014 for Mass of Christian Burial in St-Félix de Valois Church at 11 a.m. Interment in Nativité Cemetery. The family will be in attendance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of Funeral on Monday.
