Loving and devoted wife of Bernard “Bernie” of over 34 years.
Treasured mother of Jeff (Michelle) McQuillan and beloved Nana of Emma and Colin.
Janet will be greatly missed by her brothers Glen (Mary) Shoniker and Paul Shoniker, along with her loving in-laws.
She will be fondly remembered by her adored nieces and nephews; Sean (Melissa), Brendan (Danielle), Katie (Tom), Kelly (Jay), Christopher (Denise), Thomas, Mackenzie, Tyler and Matt (Courtney).
Janet was the Great Auntie to many, as well as a very special godmother. She will be forever remembered by her many friends, and extended family.
Warm hearted, kind and compassionate, Janet was always taking care of her family, friends and students. A proud and dedicated teacher with the TCDSB (Toronto Catholic District School Board) for 30 years.
In her later years, she opened her heart and home to many animals. She loved her kitties. She will be missed by her current kitties; Toby, Rosie, Molly and Lilly.
Janet is predeceased by her parents George John Thomas and Marion Elizabeth “Beth” (née Reynolds) Shoniker; her brothers Jim Shoniker (late Wendy) and George Shoniker (Jeanique).
The family will be in attendance at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West, Cornwall (613-932-8482) on Thursday, September 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Parish Church (2900 Second Street E. Cornwall, ON K6H 6R2).
Donations can be made in her honour to The Canadian Cancer Society or the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Animal Centre, would be appreciated by the family.
