André loved his family and friends more than anything ….except maybe winning a game of cards or watching reruns of his favourite show “The Office”
André became the primary care paramedic in 1996 and then later an advanced care paramedic in 2002 before becoming the Deputy Chief of Cornwall SDG Paramedic Service in 2004. In 2018 he received the Exemplary Service Award from the Governor General of Canada for his years of service. In 2022 André transferred to the Glen Stor Dun Lodge to work as the Deputy Administrator and remained there until the time of his passing.
André is predeceased by his father-in-law Blaine Gaines. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy, his parents Daniel Turbide and Rose-Aline Pilote, his siblings, Manon Turbide and Joyce (Mamadou Traore) Fortin, his precious children, Alyssa Turbide and Tristan Turbide (Sarah Tasker) and his service dog Groot.
André would ask you to honour his memory by raising a glass of your favourite drink in his name. His family, however, would ask that you honour his memory by always smiling through the pain, by loving your family, by being a good friend and always being present for others as André was in life.
André as été la fierté de son famille par son sourire émerveillant, par son humour toujours pointu, mais surtout par son exemple de père aimant et dévoué à sa famille.
In the great words of Michael Scott “Society has taught us that having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well that’s baloney, as grief isn’t wrong. There’s such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown”.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Canadian Veteran Service Dog Unit or to Boots on the Ground.
The family will be in attendance at Lahaie & Sulllivan Cornwall Funeral Homes West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482) on Tuesday May 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday May 15th from 9 a.m. until the time of Service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday May 15, 2024 in the Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home at 11 a.m.
