Steven , went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, September, 21, 2019, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He lost a lengthy battle with cancer but won the war when he entered the gates of heaven as a son of God. He was born Feb. 6, 1947, to the late Marvin and Dorothy Hall Summers in Pasenda , CA. He met his wife Jane Clark Summers in Corinth. They married on Valentines Day 1988 and he continued to pledge his love to her for 31 years. As a member of Boy Scouts of America, he rose to the rank of Eagle Scout, carrying the values of honor, integrity and strength throughout his life. After graduating from John Muir High School in Altadena, Ca., he volunteered to serve his country during the Vietnam era and attained the rank of master sergeant as a military police officer. After leaving the military, he was hired by Pacific Bell Telephone Company and later moved to Corinth and continued working for AT&T. He was medically retired after 31 years with the phone company. A lifelong Methodist, he was an active member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. He became a Freemason at an early age and was an active member of Corinth Lodge #116. In 2012, he was named Mason of the Year of the Scottish Rite Valley of Corinth, Orient of Mississippi. This year he received the coveted honor of acceptance as a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. For many years, he enjoyed cooking meals for his brothers at the lodge until his health failed him.
A talented wood carver, he is best known for his carving of the Christ head. He enjoyed giving away most of the treasures he created. Although not avid, he tried his hand at gardening but his enthusiasm waned as weeds took over his efforts. His weekly coffee club meeting at Arbies was a date untouchable. He would spin yarns, tell jokes and exaggerate tales to entertain his friends. He also loved his cherished possessions, a 1913 Roadster and a 1915 Model T Ford and his beloved German Shepherd Annie Kay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Brobaker.
In addition to his wife, Steve leaves behind two sons, Ben Summers (Ashley) of Germantown Tn., and Zack (Cheri) Summers of McChord Air Force Field, Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Michaela White of Stuttgart, Germany; seven grandchildren, Abby, Mary Katherine, Henry Summers and Jacob and Zachariah Summers; Dean and Alina White.
