Mac was born Wednesday, December 21,1938 to the late Homer and Floy Dee Prater Ayers. He was an adventurous and hard-working child. At the tender age of 6 years old, Mac was working as a farmer alongside friends and family. He would then receive his first traffic violation at the age of 8 years old while transporting logs to the local paper mill for the family. Mr. Ayers was a graduate of the class of 1962 at Auburn University, receiving a degree in forestry. Mac "War Eagle" would then serve his country by joining the United States Navy receiving an honorable discharge a few years later. Mac then decided he would attend the University of Southwest Georgia, where he would become a licensed nurse anesthetist. His daughter, Vickie can clearly recall when on October 23, 1980, Mac decided to move the family to Corinth, MS. He accepted a job at Magnolia Regional Health Center and served Alcorn County for over 30 years. He and his family would homestead on Highway 350, where he spent his leisure time becoming an avid cattle rancher. Mac was a lifelong member of Foote Street Church of Christ.
