Yvonne Ethyle Sommer

With heavy hearts, we announce that Yvonne Ethyle Sommer, age 88, passed on June 10, 2023, in Coral Springs, FL. Yvonne was a great family woman and a loving mother. She married Fred Sommer in 1953 and had five children together.

Yvonne is survived by her four children, Scott Sommer (Nancy), of Lake Worth, FL, Craig Sommer (Linda) of Coral Springs, FL, Susan Sommer (Sherri) of Margate, FL, Mark Sommer (Tina) of Loxahatchee, FL; five grandchildren, Christopher Sommer, of Coral Springs, FL, Thomas Sommer of Loxahatchee, FL, Michael Sommer, of Loxahatchee, FL, Tyler Sommer, of Gainesville, FL and Brett Sommer, of Gainesville, FL. Yvonne also had extended family and two special extended grandchildren, Morgan Avery and Noah Thoms. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sommer, of Coral Springs; son, Christopher Sommer; and granddaughter, Katie Sommer.

Yvonne was born on November 30, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to parents, Elsie and William Prazak. She graduated from Sterling Morton High School in Cicero and then the American School of Ballet in New York City. Yvonne became a dance instructor and then opened her own dance studios in La Grange, IL and Coral Springs, FL. She worked in Real Estate and then in the field of “assisted living facilities” until retiring at the age of 80.

Yvonne was a socially active woman all of her life. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing bridge and most of all, spending time with her family. Volunteer work was very important to her, so she did so at the local hospital. Yvonne loved her Miami Heat and had a wicked sweet tooth, as everybody knows. Her family and friends will always remember her as kind, a great listener and a giving person with a great sense of humor.

A visitation for Yvonne will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071, followed by a celebration of life service at 7:00 PM. Pastor Larry Bergstrom will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Yvonne's life.
