Laura Ann Schwartzenberger, 43, sadly passed away Feb. 2, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Dixie Schwartzenberger; older sister, Nancy Coombes; and in-laws, Camilo and Del Baca. Survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Jason; her children, Gavin and Damon; goddaughter, Janae; brother, Ken, sister, Beth; nephew, Brady (Lexi), niece, Morgan; aunts, Darlene and Molly, uncle, Willy; and numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
Laura was born and raised in Pueblo, CO and attended South High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She then went on to obtain her Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Denver.
In 2005, Laura began her employment with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was stationed in Albuquerque, NM. In 2010 she transferred to the Miami, FL office where she got her start on the Cargo Theft Task Force. She then transferred to the Violent Crimes and Fugitive Task Force before eventually finding her true calling as a member of the Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force. As a loving mother herself, Laura had tremendous passion and enthusiasm for her work and was determined to make a difference in the lives of children. Her hard work did not go unrecognized: She received the LEO Award for Federal Agent of the Year in 2016 and received the Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in both 2016 and 2019.
Laura had many hobbies. She loved camping with her family in both the Colorado mountains and at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound, FL. She was a talented artist who loved to draw, paint, and do crafts with her boys and she collected mementos that reflected her love of the coast and many cherished family beach trips.
Laura was also an avid Cross fitter and loved attending classes at her favorite gym, CrossFit VICE. She was also very involved in lacrosse activities for her boys and loved serving as the unofficial photographer for Parkland RedHawks and Stealth Lacrosse games. She treasured the many friendships that she made as a part of these two communities.
Laura’s greatest accomplishment in life was being married to the love of her life and having their two boys.
