Memorial services for Robert Burke aka Charlie Brown, 70, of Copperas Cove, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Copperas Cove. Inurnment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Burke died Thursday, Jan 20, 2011 in a Killeen hospital.
Robert Vincent Burke was born Jan 4, 1941 in McKeesport, PA to Charles Burke and Edith D. Whilthew Burke. He grew up in Girard, Ohio where he graduated from high school. He joined the US Army and served Dec 20, 1960 through Nov 17, 1966. In 1969 he married Lawanda Flickinger in Girard, OH. He was employed with the Department of Criminal Justice for 13 years during which time he worked in Huntsville and Amarillo. He had lived in Copperas Cove for the past 14 years.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Vincent Burke and his wife Marcy, two daughters, Margaret “Missy” Lee and Deon Swan and her husband Mike all of Kempner; seven grandchildren, Shane Hilliard and wife JoBeth, Patrick Hogan and wife Maricho, Christopher Hogan, Carla Huskins, Tyler Swan, Joshua Cawley, and Marisa Cawley and three great-grandchildren; Brent Hilliard, Riley Hilliard, and Aedan Hogan.
