Richard Carl Olson

Richard was born on September 7, 1946, in Chicago Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Myrtle Olson. He is survived by his wife Carolann Olson, daughters, Marianne Bartlett and husband Gregory Bartlett, Danielle Olson Poteat and husband Rodney Poteat, grandsons, Joshua, Jake, and Micah Bartlett and siblings Ralph Olson, Susan Gaillard, Marlene Ryan, Robert Olson, and Roger Olson.

Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1987 as a Master Aviator Helicopter Pilot with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Following his retirement, he worked for Lockheed Martin as a Senior Laser and Optics Engineer for 10 years and was also employed as a Business Development Tactical Trainer at OSI Defense Systems.

Richard loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for aviation, playing golf, reading, politics, and travel. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, a friend to many and he will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

A Social Gathering for family and friends of Richard will be held Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crawford-Bowers, 211 W Ave B, Copperas Cove, Texas 76522. Following the Social Gathering will be a Graveside Service with full military honors at 2:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Highway 195, Killeen, Texas 76542.
