Michael Blair Fuller was born on October 14, 1938 in Denver, Colorado. He passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 surrounded by his family. Growing up a child of a Civic Servant, he lived in Santa Fe New Mexico, Muskogee Oklahoma, Ranger Texas and Anniston Alabama.
After graduating high school, Michael attended Jackson State University. On June 6, 1960 he joined the United State Army. While serving in the US Army Michael earned the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Mike served two tours in Vietnam. His military duties also included service from 1966-67 with the 1st Cavalry as Flight Operations Coordinator, in 1971 with the 15th M.I. as an Image Interpreter on a OV-1 Mohawk and a deployment to Hanau Germany from 1972-1975 with the 704th M.I. as an Image Interpreter on a OV-1 Mohawk.
In 1975 SFC Michael B. Fuller was stationed to Fort Hood Texas where he retired in 1980. His military awards include the Presidential Unit Citation w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Bronze Star Medal, Master Crewman Badge, Expert Pistol, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal w/4 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/2d Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal 2-5, Combat Infantry Badge and the Meritorious Unit Commendation w/1st Oak Leaf Cluster.
He worked for the Boy Scouts of America in the Heart of Texas Council for 13 years as a District Scout Executive before retiring in 2001. Scouting was a lifelong passion that earned awards such as the Arrow of Light, Eagle Scout, Explorer Silver Award, Youth Religious Emblem, Adult Religious Emblem, Order of the Arrow Vigil Award, Order of the Arrow Founders Award, Order of the Arrow James West Founders Award, Order of the Arrow Distinguished Service Award, Silver Beaver Award, District Award of Merit, Scout Leaders Training Award and the Professional Training Award.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.H. Fuller and Veta Fuller and his sister Sandra Fuller.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Fuller; daughter Michelle Pair and her spouse Tim Pair; son Michael Fuller Jr and his spouse Alice Fuller; and son Christopher Fuller; and 6 grandchildren; Breanna Pair, Chloe Pair, Ethan Fuller, Alexis Fuller, Jace Fuller, and Kenlie Fuller.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Copperas Cove. A Graveside service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
