After a two-year battle with colon cancer, Adam Wirthlin passed away on November 12, 2024. Diagnosed at the age of 40, fighting cancer changed his view of life and he fought with everything he had for his family. Throughout his journey with cancer, he completed multiple rounds of treatment and surgeries and even in these trying times, he had the ability to be positive and left a lasting impact on those who cared for him.
Adam had many passions including his love of music and Corvettes, but one passion that drove him to be better was his love of his profession. Adam graduated from University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He spent many years as a laborer and field engineer before transitioning to a cost estimating role within an engineering consulting firm. His dream was to own his own company, and he fulfilled that dream in 2016 starting Wirthlin Consulting Group. He had an incredible interest in the industry, becoming an expert in tunneling and cost estimating. He will be remembered as a colleague who was knowledgeable but willing to share, inquisitive and talented.
Adam and Elizabeth married in 2016 after meeting on eHarmony in 2013, each of them taking one last chance at a match. We were not only lucky to build a life together, and start a family, but we also had the opportunity to work together for the last three years. Adam shared his love for vintage video games, memorabilia from the ‘80s and classic vinyl with our girls and I know these memories will lift them up in times of need. Our family will feel the greatest impact from this loss, but we will carry our memories close to our hearts. He taught us what it felt like to be loved, and we are lucky to know an unconditional love like his.
Adam is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Claire (7) and Natalie (5); parents, Ken and Jackie and his brother, Scott.
We kept a journal of Adam’s cancer journey over the last two years, to capture his spirit and love of life, please visit CaringBridge.com and search for Adam’s name.
