Michael, fondly known as “Mickey”, was born in Brooklyn, New York to his late parents, Michael and Rose (Dolly) Necco. Mickey was born July 22, 1942. He grew up in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Mickey met his future bride, Geraldine (Gerry) when they were teenagers on June 4th in 1957 and married on May 4, 1961.
Mickey and Gerry left Brooklyn, moved to Long Island, and made their home in Copiague, New York.
In his spare time, Mickey loved to spend time with his family. Mickey enjoyed boating, crabbing and clamming on the Great South Bay along the Babylon beaches. Summer days were spent swimming in the family pool and barbequing. During winter months Mickey would participate in bowling leagues, watch sporting events with his family and attend athletic events for his children.
Mickey is predeceased by his beloved wife, Geraldine; and his son, Michael. Surviving are his children – Donna Conway (Michael), Frank (Linda) and Robert (Maria); his grandchildren – Michael, Frank (Desiree), Sara, Sean, Angela, Jonathan, Ryan, Vincent, Robert, Christina, and John Paul (J.P.); and daughters-in-law, Lisa Necco and Kim Necco. Mickey leaves his brother, Vincent Necco; his sister-in-law, Elaine (Michael) Cianciaruso, his niece, Barbara DeRita; and his nephew, Michael Cianciaruso Jr.
Also dear to his heart, Mickey leaves behind his friend and companion Anne Surace, a childhood friend with a beloved family who entered his life in later years.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday for visitation from 2 - 4:30 and 7 - 9:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague at 9:45 a.m. and interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
