Bob was my  submarine shipmate,  we served together on the USS Chopper SS-342.  He was a fun loving guy and will be missed.  We extend our prayers to all his family and friends.

I am very sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  We both served in the US Navy aboard the same submarine (CHOPPER) although at different time periods.  I got to know Bob and Donna through several crew reunions and enjoyed our times together in San Francisco and most recently on a cruise out of Miami.  On behalf of Carolyn Davis and Myself, we wish all the best for Donna and that the memories she has created with Bob will help sustain her in the days to come.

We will miss you so much.  Getting to know you over the last several years has been a fun journey.   Finding out it was your driveway I couldn't back out of at 16 and destroyed your rocks.  You were so mad at me that day and now 16 years later you became more like family to me. I will miss cracking dirty jokes with you and submariner humor.  I will miss your warm heart and soul, you loved us and treated my son like he was your grandson.  Until we meet again my dear Bob, keep a watchful eye on us up there.  Sending love and light to all the family.

I have never met a more smart, funny, and understanding man. He made my mom Donna fill like a school girl all over again. For that I loved him even more. It was more than a pleasure to have the opportunity to know a great man. Even though he is not here with us today, he will always be in our hearts. As we continue on in life without him. May he rest knowing he was loved by many. Until we all see you again. Rest in piece Bob Steinmetz.
