Max was born on February 27, 1941 in Clinton, Illinois. He worked for State Farm for 38 years and retired as Vice President of Agency Compliance. After retirement Max and Cindy built a home in Hudson Wisconsin, where they enjoyed many blissful years with family and friends.
Together, Max and Cindy enjoyed traveling - whether around the world or just in the state of Minnesota as "Super Fans" in the stands at their grandkids' sporting events - every adventure was exciting. They were also "Super Fans" of the MN Timberwolves, and were season ticket holders for 14 years. Max enjoyed many activities like golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking. His day revolved around his beloved dog Marki - from buying the truck to suit her needs, and the trips to McDonalds, she was always by his side, and they both eagerly awaited their reunion in Heaven.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Elbridge and Lois; brother, Paul; step-son, Matthew; and beloved companion, Marki.
Max is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy McCarthy-McPeek; his former wife, Claudia Doran and their children, Renee (Howard) Anderson, Doug (Jocelyn) McPeek, and Rhonda (Jeff) Steinhagen; grandchildren, Drew and Logan Anderson, Savannah, Eloise, and Scarlett McPeek, Reid and Luke Steinhagen; and many other family members and friends.
Join us to celebrate Max's life on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids. Visitation at 10 am, service at 11 am, luncheon to follow. Private burial will take place at a later date.
