Linda passed peacefully surrounded by as many family members as could fit in the room. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Hospital Heart Clinic for their kindness, support and guidance in making her passing as comfortable as possible.
Linda was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cribbage savant. She was a devout Catholic, an excellent baker (even teaching several Community Education classes on Christmas Cookies), a green thumb gardener, an enthusiastic quilter and favored traveling by train and cruise ship (where no Coleman stoves were allowed).
Linda was welcoming to all, quick to smile and always grateful. She loved visiting with her friends, siblings and children. But her eyes positively sparkled when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She suffered through Vikings Super Bowl losses and delighted in Twins World Series wins. Linda loved the pop music of her and her kids' generations and was a supporter of their musical talents. She herself learned to play the piano as she entered middle age. She loved to decorate and cook for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter and was thrilled when her family shared the holidays with her. Linda was a strong supporter of her church parish and, along with her daughter and granddaughter, ran the annual parish plant sale.
Linda had a loving and devoted marriage with her husband Pete which lasted almost 57 years. While still a woman of her generation, she made sure she was treated as an equal in their relationship. They traveled when able, visiting most of the western states and provinces along with various Caribbean islands and Mexico. Linda and Pete spent many happy weekends at their cabin in Wisconsin and welcomed all who came to visit them there.
Linda was preceded in death by her father Herman, her mother Gertrude, her sister Phyllis, her brothers Mike and Terry, her husband Pete and numerous in-laws, most of whom were proficient in card games. She is survived by her sisters Pat and Laure, her brothers Steve, Bob and Randy, her daughters Gail and Patty, her son Chris, her daughter in-law Terri, her son-in-law Jim, a half-dozen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and in-laws, most of whom are proficient in card games.
She did her best to walk on the path shown by Jesus. She lived her life with love, compassion, empathy, forgiveness and gratitude. Linda's soul is glorified in the Grace of God.
There will be a mass for her on December 4th, 2024 at her parish of St. Patrick's (19921 Nightingale St. NW, Oak Grove, MN 55011). Visitation will begin at 10:00am and the mass will follow at 11:00am. There will be a livestream of the mass available for those unable to attend in person. Please contact the family for details.
