The new of Chad’s passing was a complete gut punch for me and caused many memories to come flooding back to me.

I haven’t spoken to Chad since 91 or 92, but he was such a positive influence in my life. From when I was around 11 to 14, and working on figuring out the world, Chad was in my life. He was dating my sister, Nicole, and was never too cool for me. He was funny, witty and always had time to hang out with his girlfriend’s dorky brother.

He taught me how to play guitar (thinking of that fateful day I first saw his red Ibanez electric guitar!) and bought me my first one. He also taught me how to have a healthy respect for many musicians like Hendrix, SRV and, especially, Randy Rhoads. He took me to my first concert (Iron Maiden June 1992), and taught me much about life in general.

He would be happy to know that every time I pick up a guitar, I can't help but think of him smiling. And I wish I could have told him he’s still influential today, as I am teaching my 10-year-old son how to play guitar. 

He made me a mix tape on my birthday (I think I just turned 13) that I played all the time. I am not exaggerating when I write that this single cassette defined and continues to define my musical taste. Chad will always have a special place in my life; he impacted my life more than he ever will know. My sincere condolences for your loss.

Chad was one of my mom (Debbie) best friends when I was growing up.  It was always a good time when “Uncle Chad & Travis “ came around. Even though I am grown up now and have children of my own. I will always remember Chad as “Uncle Chad”. I’m grateful for the last phone conversations I got to chime in on with my mom and give him and update on my life. To his wife and son, I am so sorry for your loss. Even though I have never been able to meet you two, you are both in my hearts. Prayers for God to carry you through this time and that his memory and laugh and spirit are carried through the ones he loved. Rest In Peace Chad. Bitter Boy for Life ❤️ 

Chad and I were teamates at ISU for several years.  We had some great times with hockey and hockey events like parties at the Palace.  I was fortunate to be able to go to several concerts with him  and we had a great time.  His laugh is what I remember most!  Rest in peace my old friend!

There are no words to describe how deeply sorry I am that you have lost your wonderful husband and loving father. You both made his life so complete. Always know how very much he loved and cherished you. I will always remember Chad smiling and his contagious laugh. Chad was a special gift to this world  that I had the privilege of meeting and knowing. I am so glad we were all able to visit with your family at the ocean when you came out to California. 
I am praying for you and all of Chad’s family for strength during these hardest, most painful of days.

Chad was a GREAT  friend  in High School!! Although I have not seen or spoken to him in 30 plus years, I am so thankful for some recent facebook posts and messages in which we reconnected over politics and music. It was fun to reminisce  about concerts and music but most important, Im happy to see how much he loved his wife and son!! RIP!

I have such wonderful and warm memories of Chad. He was always happy and fun to be with.  The cousins always had a great time together. I am thinking of The Liston Family. 

We are so sad to hear about Chad’s passing.  We have so many memories of Chad from growing up.  The Liston family was always part of our family.  All of our thoughts & prayers to the entire family. Heidi and Antonio,  I am so sorry for your loss. Chad had such a big presence and was always smiling. Evidence of his generosity was taking the boys and girls soccer teams to Culvers. We had such a good time with all those kids!

 You all opened up your home for my son and Antonio feels like one of my own.  Our thoughts are with you.

Rest in Peace and Power Chad

Chad! Such an awesome guy, always smiling and willing to give a helping hand. With my big sister Heidi, you was a big brother too! You both have always made me feel loved and cared for! It was a pleasure to have known you Chad!

I have so many great memories of time spent with Chad and I was fortunate enough to get to meet his Mom and Dad, sister and brother, and Heidi before they were married. He had a way of making people feel special and comfortable and accepted. He made friends everywhere he went, and he went to a lot of places. He had such a zest for life and I can't imagine what a loss this must be for the people closest to him, my heart goes out to you all. I had always believed that he and I would one day have more adventures, like the fishing trip to southern California on Captain Ron's boat (Travis can attest) or even like the time he called me from a pawn shop in Reno and said he found a guitar that I should buy, I still have, and play that guitar today. I, as you, will have to be content with these memories and I hope yours are at least as good as mine. 
So my friend I'll paraphrase Jimi Hendricks " I won't se you no more in this world, then I'll see you in the next one, don't be late".

I'm so sorry to hear the news of Chad passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Chad when I went to California with his sister, Cindy for vacation. Chad was an amazing host. So many of those moments are still very vivid in my mind. Chad was always friendly whenever I was fortunate to bump into him. He always had a big cheerful smile. My sincere condolences to Chad‘s family. 

My dear friend Chad, where do I begin? I remember when we first met when you and you team mates came to stay with my family in Australia to play hockey for ISU. Immediately we became fast friends, and you became part of my family, and have been ever since. The way you and your family have always embraced my family as their own is something so special. There are so many memories with you over the years that I am lucky to have, and I’ll hold them even closer to my heart now. I can’t believe it was the last time I’d see you all those years back on another visit with you. So many memories of your smile, your laugh, your stories, your love of music and guitar, the adventures we’ve shared - I’m a lucky person to have shared so much time with you. Thank you for visiting me by way of that beautiful flash storm earlier this week, that came out of nowhere just minutes after hearing of your passing after talking to Cindy. I know that was you coming to say farewell. Go well my friend, I love you so very much, and I know we will see each other again  one day x

 I can not help but to think of the times we would work together. I enjoyed them so much. Chad would light up when he would talk about you and getting married. We were so happy for both of you.

We were neighbors of the Liston’s when they first moved  from Iowa.  They didn’t know many people and we soon became good family friends.  I remember when Chad was born.  It was a pleasure watching all of our children become wonderful adults.  
 We are saddened at the loss of Chad both to Heidi and Antonio, and his mother, Maurine and extended family.
May God ease the loss of Chad on earth by knowing that God gained an angel in heaven.

I was and I am so sad that he had passed. I worked with him in California at Nasco. He was fun and was cool to hang with.  Chad and I enjoyed food and drinks (mainly tear and nose running spicy Mexican food). I will never forget our friendship. It ment a lot to me. I pray for healing for all the hearts he touched. 

My thoughts and prayers go out to Chad’s friends and family. 

I knew Chad from Iowa State where we lived on the same floor in the dorms. We quickly became friends due to our love of hockey and I remember his stories about his family and hockey experiences. He was a great friend and a better person.

I have so many memories of Chad Liston and his family as we grew up. Our families were best friends and lived by each other, we did so many things together including celebrating holidays and camping together.

I even had the pleasure of visiting Chad when he lived in California. We had so much fun. He actually took us to one of the neatest bars (Heinold‘s First & Last Chance Saloon) and he was so full of hospitality!

Although I have lived in Texas for the past 30 years, my mom keeps me updated on how everything is going with the Liston family. I am grateful that we had a chance to spend some time with Chad & Heidi two summers ago as we stayed up in Minnesota and were able to stay in the house right next-door to them.

I am so sad that heaven gained an angel too soon, I will be praying for Heidi and Antonio and the rest of the Liston family.
