Henry was born in Cut-n-Shoot, TX at home on November 15, 1939 to Gladys Eunice Murray Harris and William Henry Harris Sr. He was brought up in a large loving family that instilled strength of family and caring for others. Henry boxed both in the amateur and professional ranks, along with his brothers who became widely recognized for being the fighters from Cut-n-Shoot, TX.
Henry graduated from Sam Houston State University and married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Groce Harris, in 1961. Following in the footsteps of his older brother Roy who had married Sandra’s sister Jean, they shared the same wedding anniversary, September 24.
Henry and Sandra raised six children with the concept there was always room for one more. So, the house was always full, including the couches.
Henry was a loving husband, a wonderful Dad, an awesome grandfather/ Bic, a dearest friend, the best coach, and an amazing healer. He touched the lives of many with his big caring heart that extended to anyone in need.
Henry was preceded in death by his brothers Tobe Harris, Roy Harris, Baby Frank, and his sisters Frances Harris Lane and Patsy Shipman. Henry is survived by his sisters Wynne Harris, Victoria “Helen” Knight, his brother Jim Harris; Aunt Dorothy Brown; his children Cynthia, Renae, Benton, John, Trey, and Daniel; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many others that Henry and Sandra took in and loved and nurtured over the years.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 5:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2495 Ed Kharbat Drive, Conroe, TX 77301) with burial to follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
