Phoenix attended Kilgore High School for a short time and later transferred to Carlisle High School during his fresh¬man year to play football. After attending one year of college at Stephen F. Austin University,
Nacogdoches, TX, he decided he wanted to serve his country, so he joined the Marine Corps in 1988 - 1992. He was deployed August of 1990 thru July 1991 to fight on the front lines of the Gulf War (Desert Storm). Additionally, he was a member of the Freemasonry, where he held the Master Mason degrees. Once he reached Master Mason, he was qualified and invited to join the Shriners.
On July 21, 1990, in Los Angeles, CA, Phoenix united in marriage to Lakasha Sneed-Lacy. He was the proud father of two beautiful daughters, all whom he loved individually and collectively.
Phoenix was employed at Baker Hughes, Inc. 23 plus years as a Welder.
On June 1, 2020, Phoenix Lacy departed from this life. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Owens.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Lakasha Lacy, daughters, Kira Lacy and Kamille Lacy. Also survived by his mother, Doris Owens (stepfather, Charles Jones), sisters - Catina Clayton (husband Jackie), Melody Broughton (husband Sammy), Pamela Owens (husband Jerry), stepbrother, Rev. Kevin Anthony Aunts & Uncles- Glenda-Ann Redic, Burnett Lacy, Ricky Lacy, A host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends First cousins “more like brothers”- Brant Lacy (Carmen), Alfred Lacy; and a host of close cousins
Phoenix was recruited by Carlisle High School to play football. Relatives in that area took him in and treated him as their own. Extended (2nd) Family- survived by Jennifer Perry-Rollins, Arlene Crawford, Pastor Rastus Perry, James Perry, Don Perry
He was preceded in death by his sister, Angie, father, Archie, niece Nakie, maternal grandparents, David and Leaster, uncles Bryant and Billy, extended parents James and Pearl.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2020, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm with a Celebration of Life from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 12:00pm at First Baptist Church, Price, Texas with burial following in Big Springs Community Cemetery, Henderson, Texas.
