Dean served the City of Conroe for 32 years in the Public Works Department. During his tenure with the City of Conroe he moved up the ladder from Water Department Foreman to Public Works Director. The Mayor and City Council were very proud of his accomplishments and made the decision to build and name the new Public Works Service Center in his honor. In 2013 he finally decided it was time to turn over the reins to someone else and retire to spend more time traveling and enjoying life with his wife Kathleen.
Dean became a Mason at Oakwood Lodge No.1444 in January of 2005. June of 2006 he became an Endowed Member of Oakwood Lodge No.1444. May of 2009 he reached L.I.F.E. Operations. June of 2010 after moving through all offices in Masonry, he became Worshipful Master and remained as such until June of 2011.
In November of 2016, he was awarded the Golden Trowel Award from the Oak Wood Lodge No 1444. The Golden Trowel is the Lodge's formal recognition of a Brother who has consistently demonstrated outstanding and exemplary service to his lodge through any one or combinations of Masonic and Community service. This award is intended for the Brother who, year after year, quietly, but actively demonstrates his devotion to the teachings of Masonry without thought of recognition or special honors. This is designated as the highest award a Lodge can bestow upon an individual member, which is accomplished through exemplary service to the Lodge and Fellow Masons.
October of 2019 he began holding a Plural Membership with Oakwood Lodge No.1444 and Bedias Lodge No.651.
