Linda, lovingly known as “Mugga”, was born in Freeport, TX on June 10th to Minnie and Jack Barlow. She resided in Willis, TX on Lake Conroe where she enjoyed every minute of her plants, her people, her dog Billy Jack and looking past Bill’s Boat House at the lake she has called home for over 38 years. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 38 years William “Pete” McCown and most recently, husband of 9 years (collectively) William “Bill” Hill, Jr.
Linda was a beautiful gypsy soul with the heart of the wildest child you ever met, the resolve of a champion fighter, stubborn as a mule, a fierce protector and a loyal friend to anyone who was invited into her fold. She loved big and out loud and forgave quickly. She held tight as if you were hers and always had been.
She was a devoted wife, amazing cook, animal lover and had a green thumb but her highest priority in life were relationships. At any given time (especially if it were raining), you could find her on the back deck laughing, listening, crying or simply being still with someone in need.
She lived her life like a Christmas Hallmark movie version of Thelma and Louise with a Johnny Cash soundtrack but with a lot of laughter, a forever storybook love and a happy ending. One can only hope Heaven was ready for the fire she had inside.
Linda’s beautiful legacy of laughter, love and selflessness will be carried on by the family she cherished; daughter Allison Hill Babin, sons Jeff McNemar and wife Kelly and Steven Hill and wife Felina, stepson Bobby Powell and wife Renee and bonus son Wesley Hill and husband Ben, grandchildren Tanner Babin, Savanna Hill, Aaron and Laurel Powell, Maggie and Adley McNemar, Jacob, Jace, Lindsay and Josh McCown, Heather Brewer and Audrey, Jace, Allyson and Reid Gennusa.
She will be remembered on Monday, May 24th at 10:00am at Cashner Funeral Home, in Conroe. Her service will be officiated by the honorable Judge Wayne Mack. She will be carried to her final resting place with Bill by pallbearers Jeff McNemar, Steven Hill, Bobby Powell, Lindsay McCown, Tanner Babin and Will Jackson and honorary pallbearers Wesley Hill, Hayden Marr, Zack Thompson, Lane O’Brien and Chase Davidson.
