Larry Warren Folk

Larry Warren Folk, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at Cashner Funeral Home, Conroe, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 at First United Methodist Church, Family Life Center, Willis, Texas, with The Reverend Mark Woodward officiating. A celebration of life will immediately follow at The Outrigger at Harbour Town on Lake Conroe. Graveside services will be held at Lake Chapel Cemetery in Fairfield, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8. Larry was born on September 19, 1936 in Fairfield, Texas, where he graduated from Fairfield High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army (4th Army, 205th Military Police Company) from 1958-1962. Upon his honorable discharge, he attended the University of Houston, where he earned the Outstanding Accounting Student Award and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in 1965. He later completed his graduate studies at the University of Texas. Larry began his career as a Certified Public Accountant at KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick Mitchell) in Houston, Texas, before starting his own public accounting practice. Throughout his career, which spanned nearly 50 years, he was the sole or co-proprietor of various companies, including a railroad contracting company, a pipe fabricating company, a real estate development company, and real estate brokerage companies. He served as President of the Water Board for his local municipal district and was active in the First United Methodist Church of Willis, Texas, holding various positions on Trustees, Ad Council and Finance committees throughout the years. He also served as President of the Lake Chapel Cemetery Association in Fairfield, Texas, where he established a preservation trust ensuring perpetual care for the grounds. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren on Lake Conroe, the place he called home for over thirty years. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Jesse Folk, Sr. and Ora Tate Folk; and brothers, Ernest Jessie Folk, Jr., and Altus Wayne Folk He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Sondra (Skip) Goudy Folk; by daughters, Kelly Folk, Kathy Folk McFarland and husband Matthew, Kasey Folk, and Paige Boehck; by son, Jon Folk and wife Lauren; by grandchildren, Emma Caroline McFarland, Mason Potter and Jordan McFarland; and special family members, Michael and Jill Potter, Hermie Davis and Jerry Morris. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Florene Folk and Delories Chambers; by brother-in-law, James Goudy and wife Denise; special nephew, Robert Tate Folk and wife Tami; nephews, Dewey Folk and wife Tessa, and James Ernest Folk and wife Cindy; nieces, Tina Folk, Kristan Bell and husband Chris, Susan Pyron and Sharon Capoferri; great nieces and nephews Michelle and Haley Folk; Brianna Garcia; Madeleine, Sarah Jane, Justin and Zachary Pyron; Justin Adam and Sam Folk; and William and Jesse Folk; and cousins Clifford Colwell; Joe Neil Folk and wife Sue; Freida Pipes and husband Bob; Monte Donaldson and wife Jody; Onezia Donaldson; Onetia Morgan; and David Tyner.
