Kenneth Wayne Hammock

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Matthew, Connor and Claire and former wife and mother of his children, Diane of the Woodlands, Tx; and his brother Kyle, wife Deb and niece Emily, of Coupland, Tx. Additionally, he is survived by several uncles and many cousins.

Kenny graduated from Conroe High School and earned a BS degree in education from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) as well as a Masters of Education from Texas Southern University. Kenny loved sports and played football in high school and college. After a knee injury ended his college football career early in his freshman year in college, Coach Jim Wacker, allowed him to become a scout team offensive line coach, starting his lifetime dream of becoming a coach. While there, the Bobcats won the NCAA Division II National Championships in both 1981 and 1982.

He was able to fulfill his dream and goal of becoming a coach and coached at many schools. They included Washington Jr. High, Conroe High School, Klein Oak High School, Klein Forest High School, and retired in 2017 from Klein High School.

If you knew Kenny, you knew his greatest love was for his children and his biggest passion was coaching kids in sports - football and track, his favorites. He knew as a kid he wanted to coach and God allowed that dream to be fulfilled. Specifically, coaching at the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl (including taking his family to the game and Disneyland), winning the Kirk Heilbstreit Classic in Ohio, helping start Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Coaches Christian Outreach at Klein Forest HS and helping over 54 student athletes earn college scholarships.​

Kenny also loved hunting, fishing and playing golf with his family, high school, college and coaching buddies. Some of Kenny’s greatest joys were spent with his family at the lake, on vacation in Colorado or Disneyworld, but most of all having his kids run out onto the football field and give him a big HUG after the football game - Win or Lose!

His family would like to especially thank the exceptional staff at Unlimited Care Cottages in Willis, Tx. for their loving care - Lauren, the director, Taylor, Hannah, Donna, Taylor, Monica, Rachel and Amber. Also, many thanks to the compassionate staff at Devotion Hospice - Charlene, his nurse, Linda, Kyle, Mallory the chaplain that baptized him, and Steven the chaplain that led his beloved Bible Studies and taught him so much about being a Christian. Additionally, much appreciation to Brad Crouch, a fellow Conroe Tiger classmate and his roommate at Unlimited Care Cottages for his unwavering friendship and support as well as an amazing witness to Kenny.

Finally, a heartfelt thanks to his Conroe Tiger friends, Joey Yost, Bubba Elmore, Greg, Jones, John Dunn, and Danny Childers, whose unwavering support was the true meaning of friendship.

His family and friends will be forever blessed by the memories we will cherish of the man we knew as Dad, Kenny, Friend and COACH!

A memorial service will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, TX on Friday, June 30. Visitation at 1:00pm and Service at 2:00pm.
