Joseph C. “Jake” Pustka, Sr., went to his heavenly home, surrounded by family and caring friends, on Friday, April 13, 2018. Jake was born on December 10, 1927 to August Pustka and Augusta Vick Pustka at their family home in The Heights, Houston. Texas. Jake was a lifelong Lutheran, baptized August 12,1928, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wallis, TX. He was confirmed April 6, 1941 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas and worshipped there until his retirement to Conroe, Texas, when he became a devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Jake’s confirmation verse tells a snapshot of his life: John 8:31-32 If ye continue in my word, then ye are my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jake was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, August Cecil Pustka. Jake is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years Annie Maydell M Bruce Pustka, his children, Margie Henley and husband Michael, Barbara Jones and husband Don and Joseph C “Joe” Pustka Jr. and wife Glenda. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and their spouses and 12 great grand-kids, numerous brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew and a host of caring friends.
Jake served his country in the U. S. Army from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed coaching and umpiring softball and baseball and of course football with his son. He also dedicated himself to volunteer with the Harris County Deputy Sheriff’s office. While living at McRae Lake in Conroe, he kept busy keeping the grounds looking great and BBQing for all. While living in Conroe he served the Lord at St. Marks Lutheran Church as a Trustee, an Elder, Lutheran Layman’s League and helped at St. Mark’s thrift shop. His Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Conroe, Texas. Visitation will be at 10:00 A. M., Celebration of Life at 11:00 A. M. and Gravesite Interment at 2:30 P.M, Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway, Houston, TX
