Joseph Barker January joined his Savior and love of his life, Nelda May, on November 2, 2014, in Kingwood, Texas. Born September 14, 1926, to Houston Ryles and Elsie Barker January in Trenton, Tennessee. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Joseph was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, who loved to travel and write but also would share a quick witted joke. He worked over twenty-seven years for Sun Pipe Line Company as Division Regional Manager prior to his overseas trips to Saudi Arabia and Liberia. He spent time in Ogbomosho Nigeria as a Baptist Missionary Church Leader and Training Director representing Churches from Snyder and Ingleside Texas. He was a member of Mims Baptist Church, in his later years and loved serving the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nelda May January, brothers, Jimmy January and Marion January, and by his sister Elsie Woods. He is survived by his sons, Jerry January of Porter, Texas and Glenn January Sr. of Houston, Texas; daughter Aleta Ann Martin of Bentley, Louisiana; 3 grandchildren, Bobby Rogers, Rachel January Smith and her husband Jeremiah, and Glenn January Jr.; 5 great grandchildren, Lily Smith, Lila Smith, Floyd Smith, James Martin Rogers, Harland Smith and; his sister Ann Holt of Conroe, Texas and his brother Douglas January of Houston, Texas. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 5-7pm. Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 6, 2014 in the Cashner Colonial Chapel at 12:30pm with Bro. Ray Morris presiding. Burial will follow in the Garden Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW Post in Conroe.
