John Morris Curry, 79, of Conroe, passed away on Tuesday, December 28th. He was born in Madisonville, Texas on December 21,1942 to Tommie Van and Emma "Pearl" Curry. He was his parent's first born child and maintained a strong and loving relationship with them all of their lives. John was raised in Conroe and in 1962 he joined the United States Army. After his time spent in the military, John became a diesel mechanic and worked for 36 years for the Texas Department of Transportation before retiring. John loved to spend his time doing anything outdoors. He could spend hours around a campfire with his family laughing and reminiscing old times and making memories.
John was preceded in death by his wife Carol Curry, both of his parents, and his brother Tony Curry.
He is survived by his children Charles “Chuck” Curry, Laura Chandler and husband Larry, and their mother Brenda Howard Curry. His beloved siblings include sister Connie Gordon and husband Frank, brother Jimmie Curry and wife Debbie, and sister-in-law Nannetta Curry. Stepchildren Fran Henderson, Deborah Henderson and husband Durf, Jennifer Townsend and husband Matt, Patrick Henderson, and Daniel Henderson. Grandchildren Tara Bradley and husband Chandler, Madi Chandler, Dyllan Henderson, Ashton Gray and husband Will, Riley Henderson and Great granddaughter Sawyer Presley. He also leaves behind many very special nieces and nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe.
