Gerald Max Trammell (Max), 76 of Willis, TX passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016 at his home in Willis, Texas. He had recently undergone an outpatient procedure and was recovering at home when he passed.
Max was born in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on November 30, 1939 and was the oldest son to Gerald and Winnie Trammell. Max’s father died during WWII when Max was still an infant. Max grew up with his mother and sister Sue in Gentry, Arkansas and attended Gentry High School. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1962.
He joined the Insurance Company of North America (INA) in Dallas, Texas as an underwriter trainee shortly thereafter. Max relocated several times within Texas for work but ultimately settled in Houston. Max enjoyed over 40 years in the property and casualty insurance business, primarily as an Energy Casualty Underwriter and Manager. Max loved working in the insurance business and considered himself fortunate to be able to work with many great people that ultimately grew into lifelong friendships that endure to this day. Max met his wife Patty, also an insurance underwriter and they were married on December 5th, 1975. They settled into the Spring Branch area of Houston for over twenty years.
Max retired from AIG Energy Casualty in the early 2000s and he and Patty moved to the home they built on Lake Conroe. Max was able to fish and play golf while Patty spent her time on her art, with the church and her parents in Huntsville. Max and Patty enjoyed being a part of the Cape Malibu community and established friendships that they cherished until the end. Max was also a cancer survivor, beating throat cancer several years ago.
Max never forgot his Northwest Arkansas roots and his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks, no matter what sport or what time they were playing. Max was also a lifelong Astros and Oilers/Texans fan and he had just finished his 28th season of Fantasy baseball with his longtime friends in the Howard Jones Baseball League.
Max is preceded in death by his wife Patricia Gail Trammell (Patty). Max is survived by his son Kelly Trammell and daughter-in-law Lisa Trammell, his daughter Stacy Bruegging and son-in-law Brent Bruegging; his sisters Sue Truitt and Karla Bever Garrett, his brother Randy Bever; and his five granddaughters, Shannon Trammell, Courtney Trammell, Jacquelyn Bruegging, Kristen Trammell, and Jillian (Liz) Bruegging.
