One day, with a few people standing around, discussing the weather. There was some bragging regarding how much rain was received at each person's residences the previous day.  I said I didn't know because I did not have a rain gauge.

A couple of days later, at church.  Don hand me a rain gauge for my back yard.

That was Don Martin, a kind act never to be forgotten.

The humility and Godliness of your dad was demonstrated to me in the following event. About one and half years after I resigned at the Conroe Church of Christ the Holy Spirit told me I needed to go meet with Jack Hamm and ask his forgiveness. I was bitter toward Jack because of the way my departure was handled. I don't remember why I was talking to Don about this but when I mentioned it to him he said, "Would you mind if I went with you?" I arranged the meeting and Shannon and I, Don and Debbie and one other couple went to the Hamm's home and spent about an hour asking for Jack's forgiveness and praying together. You cannot imagine how honored it made me feel to have Don (who I knew Jack respected) participate in that emotionally difficult meeting. His wisdom and his desire to see reconciliation among God's children were demonstrated powerfully. I am continuing to pray for your family. Love you all!

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Don.  I know Debbie and the family will miss his wonderful presence in their life.  It seems like in school, be it Landrum JHS or Spring Branch HS, Don and I were always in homeroom together ... with the last name of Marquart, that's kind of "a given", right?!

Debbie, my thoughts, prayers, and love go to you and your family but know that Don is with the Lord and they are looking out for you each minute of the day and night.

Also wanted to let you know that I lost Mom on October 10, 2022 ... she was 98 years old and had dementia; but now she is completely well and with the Lord and also reunited with my Dad.


     A significant challenge in our move from Frazier Street to our new building in 2008 was something we called "transition."  It was a difficult job, one that nobody wanted because it involved lots of sweat and back breaking work.  It involved organizing a temporary stay at Conroe High School as we put our old building up for sale.  Some months later, it also involved moving all our usable things from our old building and the school to our new Church home by our opening on August 17th of that year.
     These moves took great effort, organization and coordination.  Larry Campbell, one of our elders, headed up this effort, but we needed someone to handle the "grunt work."  The building committee had some consternation about this task because it was difficult, and thankless for the most part.  Very few in our Church even knew it was happening.  Who could we find to handle such a task?
     With very little fanfare, one of our members showed up in a red pickup one Saturday morning, and for months he helped us, often times singlehandedly, to work through the many challenges of our church moving to our new Church campus.
     Don's name is in the middle of a plaque near the entry of our building.  But that small tribute doesn't do justice to the efforts of this Christian servant who very willingly took care of a very critical task required to help us enjoy our new Church home.  Thank you again, Don Martin.

So many great high school memories with Don and Debbie.  He was a wonderful Christian example for everyone who knew him,  and I count it a blessing to have had the privilege of being his friend.

What a great man with a great family.  Mr. Martin will be so missed but we're all so lucky to have his remembrance with his wonderful family.  Heaven is blessed as were we.

We loved Don and Debbie for many reasons.  Don is where we all want to be but we are never really sure of the timing.  We trust God and know you all are secure in the wonderful faith we share. Psalms 94:19 has come to be a great comfort to me in our hectic world.

So many fond memories of Papa.  He taught us the unconditional love of a real family and about Jesus.  He was so funny and mischievous and always smiled.  He will be missed!
